How to Count Patches
The numbered lines on the Zero Math Quilting Rulers and the Square on Point Quilt Ruler are positioned based on the patch count across or down the block.
To determine the patch count you simply look at the block and estimate what portion of the block that specific patch spans.
In the diagram below the half square triangle (HST) patches span 1/2 of the block or it would take 2 of these patches to go across the block so the patch count is 2.
The square on point patch spans the whole block or it would take 1 of these patches to go across the block so the patch count is 1.
