1. Select the size quilting ruler (6’’, 8’’, 9’’, 10’’ or 12’’) for the finished block size you want to make.
2. The Zero Math Quilting Rulers have 3 cutting edges so decide what type patch you want to cut, this determines the cutting edge you will use. a. Square Cutting Edge (labeled in black) - for cutting Square & Rectangle Patches.
b. Half Square Triangle Cutting Edge (labeled in green) - for cutting Half Square Triangle Patches.
c. Quarter Square Triangle Cutting Edge (labeled in Red) - for cutting Quarter Square Triangle Patches (example Flying Geese).
3. Place the patch type cutting edge on the fabric so the cutting edge is parallel to the side of the fabric.
4. Position the appropriate patch count dash line on the edge of the fabric. The patch count dash lines are labeled with numbers that are the same color as the cutting edge label.
5. Cut your strip. If the Zero Math Quilting Ruler is not large enough to cut the strip simply butt a longer quilt ruler to the cutting edge remove the Zero Math Quilting Ruler and cut your strip.
6. Place the patch type cutting edge on the fabric so the cutting edge is parallel to the short side of the fabric strip.
7. Position the appropriate patch count dash line on the edge of the fabric.
8. Cut your square or rectangle patches.
9. Use either the face to face sewing method for the half square triangle and the quarter square triangle patches or cut the square patches diagonally whichever way you prefer.
